For 15 years, MATES has specialized in healthcare uniforms providing high quality, comfortable and fashionable co-ordinates. In addition to manufacturing a small but unique line of co-ordinates, MATES markets the Crest apparel line ( U.S. ). This 8 5 -year-old company had both healthcare and corporate apparel divisions.
There is virtually nothing we cannot source for our clients through excellent supplier relationships.
Our first warehouse was opening in October 1992, in Nanaimo's Beaufort Centre. With close proximity for NRGH as well as Medical/Dental offices, Mates was able to test its patterns and concept locally. For the most part, however, our focus was to develop the mail order business and build data bases for metro markets across Canada .
With the major target being direct clinic accounts and mail order across Canada , it was determined that the retail outlet was unnecessary, and the Mates became home based in December of 1994.
In October 2001, Nancy Vaughan, the original owner of MATES Fashions, felt it was time to move on and sell the business to one of her full time and successful associates. Not wanting to see the MATES FASHIONS uniform line disappear, Helena Lloyd who had been selling MATES for 5 years already, assumed the responsibility of continuing the manufacturing of this 100% Canadian made and very comfortable clothing(as we are told time and time again). This involved moving head office to Surrey and eventually to the current Langley, BC store in 2007 where it continues to thrive from its down-to-earth personalized service. MATES is actively looking for associates across Canada and in some locations, retail store accounts.
